The sabre with curved 17th Century blade flat along the stepped back and double-edged towards the point, cut with two converging fullers along each side and struck with five marks on both side towards the forte, hilt comprising downcurved beaked quillons and grip with beaked pommel embossed and chased with flowering foliage against a stippled ground on each side, the former set on the outside with a cast and pierced rosette polychrome enamelled in green, white and black and set with cabachon turquoises and garnets, in its scabbard with four mounts en suite with the hilt and now covered with red velvet embroidered in gilt threads between gilt bullion borders along each side, and with two rings for suspension; the garniture comprising waist-belt and suspension straps, head-dress ornament, neck-chain, nine large, nine medium sized and twenty-four small buttons, and a pair of rounded spurs all en suite with the hilt: in original black canvas-covered fitted case lined in plum velvet, the interior of the lid lined in satin, the exterior with vacant oval escutcheon within tooled line borders (2) 78.5 cm. blade
