An important and previously unrecorded American porcelain teabowl and saucer attributed to John Bartlam (Cain Hoy, South Carolina) c.1765-69, printed in underglaze blue with the Man on the Bridge pattern, a solitary figure standing on a small bridge linking pagoda islands, within a triple trellis border, the teabowl's interior with a small vignette of a hut beside a tree, 11.7cm. (2) With paper collection labels for the Erik Hancock Collection, P.65 and P.66.
