Title: An Immoral Anthology Author: ** Place: [New York] Publisher: At the Sign of the Blue-Behinded Ape Date: 1933 Description: 135 pp. With 28 illustrations after the erotic drawings by Duranceau. A 6-page prospectus, printed in red & black, laid in. 8vo. Original beige cloth decorated in black, black-lettered gilt foil spine label, top edge gilt, original pink tissue dustwrapper and specially cut slipcase. 1 of a total of 290 copies printed at the Walpole Printing Office. First Edition. An entertaining collection of mildly salacious verse by numerous great names of English literature, with many contributions by Anonymous and attractive but almost demure illustrations by Duranceau. Peter Beilenson, the proprietor of the Peter Pauper Press and the Walpole Printing Office, reserved his Blue-Behinded Ape imprint for his occasional disreputable productions. The phrase comes from a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson Lot Amendments Condition: Edge wear and soiling to slipcase (one edge splitting); backstrip of dustwrapper perished, old tape at inside flaps (possibly placed by the publisher?); volume spine sunned; generally very good overall; a scarce and unusual anthology. Item number: 186853
