An illustrated folio from a Bahmannameh, Persian manuscript on buff paper, 27ll. of black nasta'liq, gold division within coloured rules, similar margin, headings in red in illuminated panels, recto with a CONTEMPORARY MINIATURE in gouache heightened with gold, in a rocky landscape overlooked by a wolf under a tree, a green-coated warrior pulls another man out of a tent and prepares to cut his head off into a dish, probably Bahman executing Faramurz, two attendants look on, (crease at corner, small areas of over-painting), Safavid Persia, probably Shiraz, second quarter 17th century - folio 14½in. x 9½in., miniature 5¼in. x 6in.; and a hand coloured photograph of nasta'liq calligraphy by 'Imad al-Hussaini dated AH 1017 - 3½in.x 1¾in.
