An extensive Meissen 'yellow dragon' pattern composite part service, first half 20th century painted in yellow brown, iron red and gilt with dragons and birds comprising: a two-handled circular tureen and cover, a pair of oval serving dishes, a saucer dish, a fluted petal shaped dish, two pierced large plates, a barrel shaped mustard pot and cover on fixed stand, four soup plates, fourteen dinner plates, twelve side plates, eleven bread and butter plates, a beaker vase, a circular box and cover, a coffee pot and cover, a milk jug, a circular sugar bowl and cover, a small spoon rest, a cylindrical preserve jar and cover, nine cups and ten saucers; the remainder of the service near identical but with the absence of iron red in the palette comprising: a large circular serving dish, a two-handled double-lipped sauceboat on fixed stand, a pair of square shaped deep service bowls, a large coffee pot and cover, a large teapot and cover, a sugar bowl and cover, a milk jug, four cups and saucers and three bread and butter plates, various crossed swords marks in underglaze blue(103)Condition reportOverall in good condition and of good appearance. An attractive and usable service. The marks used are typical of the period circa 1900-1920 and some items use the dot mark between the blades of the swords used in the 1920s and early 30s. The service has slight variation in palette as represented in the detail . a two-handled circular tureen and cover, about 32cm. wide: good order. a pair of oval serving dishes, 35cm. wide: good order, one mark with cancellation strikes. a saucer dish, 24.5cm. wide: good order. a fluted petal shaped dish, 27cm. wide: good order two pierced large plates, one 28.3cm. wide with a shallow re-stuck chip and partial loss to rim, the other, less densely gilded 29cm. wide and in good order. a barrel shaped mustard pot and cover on fixed stand, 11cm. high: small chip to edge of cut out of cover. four soup plates, 23cm. wide: good order. fourteen dinner plates, 25cm. wide: good order. twelve side plates, 19.5cm. wide: one with a small chip to the underside of the rim, otherwise in good condition. eleven bread and butter plates, 17.5cm. wide: one with a footrim chip with associated crack possibly from time of firing, otherwise in good condition. a beaker vase, 24cm. high: some shallow chipping to the edge of the foot. a circular box and cover, 12.2cm. diameter, 8cm. high: good order. a coffee pot and cover, 23.5cm. high: minor chipping to petals of finials. a milk jug, 11cm. high: good order. a circular sugar bowl and cover, 8.5cm. diameter, 8.5cm. high: good order. a small spoon rest, 8.5cm. wide: good order. a cylindrical preserve jar and cover, 9.7cm. high: restoration to the rim of the cover. nine cups and ten saucers; each cup 6cm. high and 8.5cm diameter, saucer 13.5cm. diameter: light rubbing to gilt rims but generally in good order. the remainder of the service near identical but with the absence of iron red in the palette comprising: a large circular serving dish, 34cm. diameter: good order. a two-handled double-lipped sauceboat on fixed stand, 24cm. wide, 10cm. high: good order. a pair of square shaped deep service bowls, 27.5cm. wide, 10cm. deep: good order. a large coffee pot and cover, 25.5cm. high: a chip to the flange of the cover which is quite large but not visible when the cover is in place. a large teapot and cover, 15cm. high, 24cm. long: good order. a sugar bowl and cover, 11.5cm. diameter, 11cm. high: minute chipping to one petal finial. a milk jug, 13cm. high: good order. four cups and saucers, each 6.2cm. high, 8.5cm. diameter, saucer each 13.5cm. diameter: good order, two saucers with small rim chip, slight rubbing to gilding. three bread and butter plates, 17.5cm. diameter: good order.
