An extensive Meissen part dinner and dessert servicecirca 1765-1780, Academic and Marcolini Periods each element painted with a vignettes of birds, domestic and wild fowl, wading birds and exotic birds, in natural settings below scattered insects and moths within gilt scroll border, the pieces of form with figural flower finials, comprising:A large two-handle oval tureen and cover with putto and cornucopia finial; a two-handle oval standTwo similar smaller tureens and covers; a two-handled oval standA pair of two-handled tureen and covers similar; and two two-handled standsTwo pairs of two-handled oval butter tubs, covers and oval standsSeven octagonal serving dishes in sizesEleven shaped-circular serving dishes in sizesTwo large circular pierced drainersSeventeen saucer dishes in sizesEight square dishes in two sizesA quatrefoil bowlTwenty-one soup platesSeventy-one dinners platesFour shaped-triangular salts on tapering fluted feetFourteen baluster cups and thirteen coversBlue crossed swords marks with Punktzeit or asterisk, PressnummernAnd a composite part service made in addition comprising:Three later two-handled oval tureens and four, outside-decorated to matchTwenty-four later side plates, outside-decorated to matchTwo Continental porcelain two-handled oval small tureens or butter tubs and covers and two saucer dishes painted with vignettes of birds amongst scattered sprigs within gilt line rims, circa 1800Condition reportOverall, this service is in good order but was used and shows signs of use and wear commensurate with age. Some of the porcelain useful wares such as dinner plates have a disproportionate amount of minor damage when compared to the items less frequently used. Many of the defects have been left untouched, some of the damaged items which were cracked have been repaired with metal pins or rivets, usually indicative of an 18th or 19th century repair. Generally, the service is of good honest appearance and in good order with large and bold pieces of form being particularly attractive. The vast majority of the service dates from about 1765-1780, two small butter tubs and two saucer dishes with similar decoration have been asimilated into the service and a small set of plates and several vegetable tureen were added in the late 19th century. In detail: a large two-handle oval tureen and cover with putto and cornucopia finial - 39cm wide, 30cm high: a faint crack to the upper part of the cover approx. 4cm from the base of the putto, some minor chipping to flowers and leaves, minor green enamel flake to handles. A two-handle oval stand - 44.5 wide, 34.5 cm deep: overall in good condition. Two similar smaller tureens and covers - 35cm wide, 24cm high: slight rubbing to gilding to handles to one tureen, minor chipping to flowers and finial to cover otherwise good condition. The other example in good condition A two-handled oval stand - 39cm wide: the left handle broken and repaired with rivets with associated overpainting (punkt.circa1765) a pair of two-handled tureen with putto (pink drape) cornucopia finial - 27cm wide, 18cm high: minute chipping to petals and fruit stalks, two minor firing cracks under rim of cover, otherwise in good condition. One of the tureens is cracked across and repaired with rivets to the underside, the crack forks at one end and extends around the foot rim. Two small two-handled stands - 34 cm wide and 23cm deep: one example with bird of prey with chip to foot rim at approx. 2cm by 1cm (this is example is from the punkt period). The other one is in good condition Two pairs of oval two-handled butter tubs – butter tubs 16cm wide and covers and stands 21.8cm wide, with bud finials and scrolled handles. One pair is from the punkt period, one butter tub with a restored replaced handled, the restoration slightly discolored, one bud finial has a chip to petal.
