Beschreibung:

An exhibition and award winning 5 inch gauge model of a 0-4-0 locomotive No 5, of the Monte Generose Railway, built by Mr Alasdair Milne of Reading and completed in 1992. The model is from the Swiss Locomotive Works drawings dated 1889, modified to allow conventional adhesive working of the model on an upgraded track at a scale of 6.4 to 1. The model is of a series of rack and pinion locomotives built for mountain railways (including Mount Snowdon). The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including steam pressure gauge, water sight glass, regulator, wheel controls, fire box door and side doors to cab. The locomotive finished in traditional green and black livery with polished connecting rods, oilers, detailed rivet-work, engine plates and fitted handrails. Length 83cm. Width 30cm. Overall height 47cm.Awards: This model was awarded a Silver Medal and the Bill Deane Trophy at the 62nd Model Engineer Exhibition, This model was reported on in The Model Engineer in March 1993.Boiler History: Past boiler certificate. Southern Federation of Model Engineers. Serial No 17285. Issued by Reading SME in 1994.
