AN ENGLISH SILVER PRESENTATION SALVER AND A VICTORIAN TROWEL Maker's mark of J. Carter, London, 1774; the trowel Sheffield, 1873, maker's mark JFF over & F. The shaped circular salver on three scroll supports, later engraved with crest and motto and in script Presented by the Hebrew Congregation of the City of Norwich, October 2nd 5610 to their much respected and valued Friend Joel Fox Esq. as a Token of their esteem & regard for his eminent services, by his zeal & exertion towards the erection of the New Synagogue and also as acknowledgment for the efficient manner he has discharged the Office of President for the last 14 years , enclosed by flowering foliage-- 13in. (33cm.) wide ; the bone handled spade engraved on blade with inscription from the Middlesbro Hebrew Congregation for the laying of the New Synagogue & School Av 28th 5633, and with Grecian motifs; together with a tazza with scene in relief of the finding of Moses, inscribed In memory of our great benefactor Moses Hart, the Great Synagogue, Duke's Palace, Aldgate , circa 1889-- 12in. (30.4cm.) diam.; together with an urn form bowl on short base with wavy rim, inscribed to M. Duparc Esore from the Liverpool branch 1926-- 5in. (13.3cm.) diam. ; the salver-- 29oz. (4)
