An English brass watchmakers mandrel J & T Jones, Prescot, mid 19th century The brass frame of standard fully-developed form with six-spoke handwheel, three-armed faceplate and simple tool rest, the bed stamped J & T JONES PRESCOT with two outswept supports and vice tongue beneath, lacking pump, with a spare faceplate, length of frame 28.5cm. James & Thomas Jones are listed in Crom, Theodore R. Horological Shop Tools 1700-1900 as working 1855-63 (page 358). Provenance: The Workshop of John Hooper.
