An Earthenware Tea Bowl ( Chawan ) Named "Kakitsubata" (Iris) Black Raku ware, Edo period (19th century) by 10th-generation Raku master Tannyu (1795-1854), Impressed twice Raku (Enjoyment) Hand-modelled, hexagonal on a compressed disc foot covered with a lustrous black glaze with patches showing through to the greyish body 3 3/8in. (8.6cm.) high; 4in. (10.2cm.) diameter Wood boxes, one signed, dated (1826) and sealed by the artist, the second authenticated by Sen Soshitsu XIV (Tantansai; 1893-1964)
