ATTRIBUTED TO THE BALTIMORE PAINTER, CIRCA 330-320 B.C.
AN APULIAN RED-FIGURED HYDRIA ATTRIBUTED TO THE BALTIMORE PAINTER, CIRCA 330-320 B.C. With a woman and an attendant within an Ionic naiskos, swastika meander on its plinth, the woman seated on a stool, wearing a chiton and a red himation draped over her back and wrapped around her waist and legs, holding its edge in her right hand, the standing attendant wearing a chiton with a red himation wrapped around her back and draped over her left arm, holding its edge in her right hand and a fan in her left, the naiskos framed by four draped female offering bearers; with a band of meander and dotted squares below, a spray of laurel centered by a rosette on the neck, ovolo on the rim, an elaborate palmette complex framing the handles, rays around the handle joins, extensive use of added red, white and yellow throughout 22¼ in. (56.5 cm.) high
