AN ANTIQUE EMERALD-SET NECKLACE AND BRACELET The necklace composed of six emerald and pearl-mounted addorsed C-scroll links on later flattened gold link neckchain with pendant foliate cross en suite, 39.5cm. long , the oblong engraved bracelet clasp with emerald, rose-cut diamond and pearl cluster attached to twin narrow herringbone mesh straps, 17.5cm. long, both circa 1830, in fitted case with gilt tooling Provenance: A handwritten note sewn into the cover of the fitted case reads 'Bijoux offerts par Napoleon III à Mme. E. Martin de Strasbourg en remerciement a la défense de M. de Quérelles, assumée par son mari lors du proces qui suivit l'insurrection de Strasbourg en 1836' Prince Louis Napoleon, Bonapartist Pretender to the Throne of France, tried to stage a revolt at the Garrison of Strasbourg in 1836. It failed, the Prince was exiled to America and his accomplices were put on trial but acquitted
