* An American Silver Three-Piece Coffee Set Maker's Mark WC possibly for William Codman, Jr., Chicago, Early 20th Century comprising a coffee pot, creamer and sugar bowl, all with spot hammered surfaces realistically chased with large sprays of poppies, strap handles marked on undersides and engraved Hand-Wrought and with initials WC 24 ozt 123 dwt Height of coffee pot 8 1/4 inches Estimate $ 700-900 Property from the Hugh Johnston Hubbard Trust, Lake Forest, Illinois Darcy L. Evon, in Hand Wrought Arts & Crafts Metalwork & Jewelry 1890-1940, 2013, notes that maker's mark WC may be that of William Codman, Jr. who was working in Chicago in the late 19th-early 20th century. The son of famed Martele designer, William Christmas Codman Sr., William Jr. and his brother John moved to Chicago in 1895 to design for Spaulding & Co..
