An 18 Karat Yellow Gold, Ruby and Diamond Toi et Moi Ring, Monture Boucheron, in a scaled texture bypass design, containing one old mine cushion cut diamond measuring approximately 7.66 x 6.76 x 4.77 mm and one oval mixed cut ruby measuring approximately 8.50 x 6.84 x 3.60 mm. Hand inscribed: MONTURE BOUCHERON. 7.25 dwts. Estimate $ 10,000-15,000 Both stones are securely set, the textured shoulders of the ring show scattered superficial scratches, the base of the ring shows evidence of sizing and moderate wear. Gem Characteristics (graded in setting) Diamond Color: I-J Clarity: SI1+ (stone has subtle brownish internal graining) Fluorescence: None Cut: Fair (large naturals on girdle/crown, very large culet) Condition: minor-moderate edge wear to girdle Ruby It is the opinion of the gemologist that the ruby in this ring has internal characteristics consistent with those observed in natural ruby that has not been color enhanced with heat treatment and that the most likely location of geographic origin would be Burma (Myanmar). The stone is slightly purplish red in hue, slightly dark medium in tone, and moderately strong in saturation. The stone is of fair clarity with eye visible inclusions including twin planes, internal fractures and rutile "silk" zones imparting a somewhat "sleepy" appearance. The stone has fair to good cut proportions and shows minor edge wear at the girdle.
