Letters from an American Farmer; describing Certain Provincial Situations, Manners and Customs...and Conveying Some Idea of the Late and Present Interior Circumstances of the British Colonies in North America, first Dublin edition, 2 folding engraved maps of Nantucket Island and Martha's Vineyard, old ink signatures of Paul and Samuel Naylor to title and first leaf of text respectively, maps a little browned, light water-staining to text, modern morocco-backed marbled boards, spine faded, 12mo, Dublin, by John Exshaw, 1782. ⁂ Rare and influential work by a French colonial who had his frontier farm destroyed in the War of Independence, including some of the earliest maps and descriptions of Nantucket & the whale industry and Martha's Vineyard. ESTC lists only 2 copies of this Dublin edition in the UK (BL and Trinity College Library), and 7 in America.
