The Spanish text printed in Italic, the Latin in Roman letter at the foot of the page, half-title, engraved title with border by E. Montfort, full-page map of North Africa, medallion portrait and 8 other full-page engraved plates by E.S. Carmona, J. Ballester, F. Assensio and others after M.S. Maella and others, many small engraved illustrations in text, engraved head- or tailpieces by various artists. folio, rebound in red morocco, spine gilt, g.e.; minor browning and staining, some staining to verso of new endpaper from removed bookplate. FIRST IBARRA EDITION. Palau 288134; Cohen De Ricci col. 938; Updike Printing Types II, pp. 71-73: "One of the finest volumes produced in any country in the eighteenth-century. The types are superior to Baskerville's in their retention of calligraphic essentials."
