Oblong 2° (285 x 425mm). 7 hand-coloured aquatint plates. (Inscriptions neatly erased from top margins, short marginal tears, plate 3 with faint offsetting.) Red half morocco gilt for Sawyer (extremities rubbed). Provenance : Ronald Harmsworth (signature dated 1926) -- Nathan of Churt (1889-1963, Privy Council; bookplate). 'A WELL DRAWN AND FINELY COLOURED SET OF PLATES representing shooting accidents' (Schwerdt). Apart from getting caught in a man trap, Alken's marksman manages to shoot at one of his dogs, kill a sheep, set his dogs on a flock of tame turkeys, and mortally scare an old lady carrying a basket of eggs.
