ALI IBN ABI AL RIJAL, al-Shaibani (10th-11th century). De judiciis astrorum libri octo. Basel: H. Petrus, 1571. 2° (310 x 195mm). Woodcut device on title and final leaf, woodcut headpieces, initials and diagrams. (Some light browning and spotting, occasional minor staining.) Later vellum, red speckled edges (joints starting to split). Provenance : Camm. L. Scanz. N.3 (inscription on title). A later edition of De Judiciis Astrorum , a Latin translation of the Old Castilian manuscript first published in Venice in 1485. Al-Shaibani Ali ibn Abi al Rijal (also known as Haly or Hali, and by the Latinized versions of his name, Haly Albohazen and Haly Abenragel) was a late 10th-century–early 11th-century Arab astrologer and astronomer at the court of the Tunisian prince al-Muizz Ibn Badis.
