Beschreibung:

ALFRED STIEGLITZ1864 - 1946CHARLES DEMUTH with annotation Locher in pencil on the reverseplatinum or platinum-palladium print9 ⅝ by 7 ⅝ inches(24.4 by 19.4 cm)Executed in 1915.Condition ReportThis palladium or platinum-palladium print is in generally excellent condition. The tones range from deep velvety black to creamy white. The midtones are a subtle, pleasing blue-gray. When examined closely in raking light, the following are visible: tiny glossy deposits in the upper right quadrant; and a few minor hairline scratches in the lower portion of the image which do not appear to break the emulsion. In the margins, the following are visible: a tiny tack-hole at the center left margin; yellowing at the lower right corner; a small loss and an attendant tear at the center right edge, which appears to have been expertly repaired on the reverse; and a tear to the upper right corner which appears to have been expertly reinforced on the reverse. On the reverse of the print, small abrasions and adhesive deposits in each corner suggest this photograph was previously tipped to a mount. Minor soiling, stray graphite marks, and the aforementioned repairs are visible. The print is hinged to board by 2 pieces of rice paper tape along the upper edge. 'AS-P-14' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil on the reverse.
