Album containing 27 photographs, albumen prints, approximately 8 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches, by Albert Mansuy, Achille Quinet and others, [c.1878], in period crimson morocco over pebbled cloth album, upper cover labeled Paris in gilt, some spots and toning to mounts, photographs generally excellent, light rubbing and wear to album. The album was created around the time of the 1878 Exposition Universelle as evidenced by the first plate which reproduces a panoramic view of the city. The images, which are eerily still and only occasionally show signs of human presence, include Paris landmarks like the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, Jardin du Paris-Royal, Colonne Vendome, Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle, &c., as well as some landmarks outside of Paris like Versailles and Chateau de Fontainbleau. Two of the photographs have a photographer's blindstamp, but the others are unsigned. Some of the images resemble the work of Edouard Baldus. See illustration.
