Half-titles, errata leaf in vol. 2. Woodcut printer's devices on title-pages. Contemporary blue morocco, "E d." gilt-lettered at center of upper covers, smooth spines gilt with floral tools, tan and red morocco lettering pieces, edges gilt (some minor wear to extremities). Provenance : Chrétien-François (II) de Lamoignon, Marquis de Basville (1735-1789, bookplate, crowned cipher stamp on p. 3 of each volume); Ragley Hall (bookplate); Major Adrian L. McLaughlin (bookplate, his sale Sotheby's Monaco, 7 October 1980, lot 1528). LARGE-PAPER COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION. Agostini was the librarian of San Francesco della Vigna in Venice; his bibliography of Venetian authors covers the period from 1074 to 1591. On pages xxviii-xxxiv in the first volume is the "Storia della fondazione e costruzione della biblioteca Marciana" (Ottino & Fumagalli 734). Besterman IV, 6391. (2)
