After Pietro Santi Bartoli (Italian, 1635-1700) Six Prints Depicting the Roman Emperor Trajan's Campaign Against the Dacians from Trajan's Column Unsigned, with Italian commentary beneath each image. Six etchings, arranged three per frame, plate sizes approximately 7 1/2 x 14 1/4 in. (18.8 x 36.7 cm), in two frames. Condition: Sheets folded at the plate marks and abutted to create a panorama, not examined out of frames. N.B. These plates are from Colonna Traiana eretta dal Senato, e Popolo Romano all'Imperatore Traiano Augusto nel suo foro in Roma, originally published in 1673 featuring Bartoli's engravings. Bartoli intended to reproduce a series of ancient Greek and Roman monuments in Rome in order to make them more accessible to the general public. He succeeded in completing about a dozen albums containing nearly 900 drawings, remarkable for their accuracy.
