"The plates... are of interest not only as fine examples of architectural engraving, but as showing the source of some of the motives of the Adam style": Fowler. The level of Adam's direct involvment was limited: the original drawings are by C.-L.Clérisseau and the historical introduction, the dedication to the King and, possibly, in part the description of the plates were written by Adam's cousin William Robertson Harris 4; Fowler 2; Berlin Kat. 1893.
