AC/DC — Bon ScottAutograph letter signed, to Mary Walton, [ca. 23 April 1975]
Two pages on two leaves (174 x 136 mm), handwritten in black ink, signed ("Bon Scott xx"), on yellow paper, with the postmarked envelope addressed in Scott's hand, numerous pencil illustrations to the back of the envelope in an unknown hand; tape repairs to second leaf re-attaching the signature which had once been cut, one old horizontal fold to each leaf, stray spots, one or two minor creases.
An early letter from Bon Scott to his close friend Mary Walton, written just two months after the release of AC/DC's debut record. The letter briefly recounts some of the band's first bigger performances, as well as personal matters. It reads, in full:
Dear Mary, (written whilst on my kneez)
What can I say....in all honesty I thought you were leaving on Monday. Felt such a cunt when I saw Maz & she told me you'd gone. I didn't expect the letter & was most surprised. I've been in the bad books with everybody lately & I'm really such a nice person. I just don't understand.
Done a couple of "big" shows this last couple of weeks: a Banglades [sic] do at Myer Music Bowl & Sky (fish) hooks thing at Festival Hall. Needless to say what happened. All the others are wasting their time. Records No. 7 on xy for the second week in a row. No good, it should be No. 1 (with a bullet).
Hello Margot & congratulations for the wedding thing. is [sic] the beau as mad as your self? He must be, but being a Scot its understandable. Well lang [?] may yer lum reek!!! Malcolm Angus & Phillip & me say grouse.
Off to Sydney on the weekend for a couple of weeks. Life gets is so boring in Melb. Still no word on Europe but it shouldn't be too long. I reckon before xmas or we'll all go fuckin mad. We just keep coffing [sic] the same shit week in & out we feel like packing it in & going to live in Sydney & spend all our itme putting down songs in Alberts. The rest o fthe countrys fucked. Don't I sound like a bloody winger. Grrr!!!
