A William IV Scottish mahogany longcase clock, second quarter 19th century The case with scroll-carved cresting to the hood, above a reeded frieze, with fluted inset columns flanking the moulded circular door frame, the three-quarter length breakarch and panelled trunk door (some losses to mouldings) flanked by inset fluted columns topped by scroll-carved palmettes, on panelled plinth with stepped base (lacking side mouldings), the 12in. diameter later gold painted dial with subsidiary seconds ring and signature GEO. WHITE Glasgow (all retouched), pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, with shouldered plates -- 77¼in. (198cm.) high
