A William IV Scottish mahogany and inlaid longcase clock, second quarter 19th century The case with swan neck cresting to the hood, centred by an inlaid bird on a harewood reserve, with tracery arch glazed side panels reverse painted with heraldic lions (possibly later), inlaid mock pilasters to the front, with ebony and satinwood inlay to, and flanking, the rectangular trunk door, the plinth raised on bracket feet, the 13½in. white dial unusually painted with Masonic regalia in the arch, with spandrels depicting Seasonal ladies, the white centre with subsidiary rings for seconds and date and signed SIMON FORREST KIRKFIELDBANK (retouched), with brass hands (minute restored), pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 93in. (236cm.) high
