A William IV Gothic revival small carved oak library timepiece, Frodsham, London, circa 1830, the four pillar single chain fusee movement with shouldered plates, anchor escapement, Vulliamy type wide jaw pendulum suspension, pendulum holdfast bracket and stamped FRODSHAM, GRACECHURCH STREET, LONDON to backplate, the 4 inch wide ogee Gothic arch shaped single sheet silvered brass Roman numeral dial with steel moon hands and fine foliate scroll engraved infill incorporating cartouche with repeat signature to apron, the triangular gabled case with Gothic leafy trail carved decoration to pediment flanked by spire finials above glazed front door with shaped silvered brass canted insert and applied fleur-de-lys motif above dial, the angles with opposing spiral twist columns, the sides with rectangular bevel glazed apertures, on moulded skirt base with squab feet, 33cm (13 ins) high. John Frodsham is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as working from Gracechurch Street, London 1822-49.
