A William and Mary boxwood and ebonised striking bracket clock Francis Raynsford, London; circa 1695 The case with brass handle and foliate mounts to the cushion-moulded top with ball finials, all mouldings of boxwood, unusually long and narrow side glasses, unusual double-head winged mask escutcheons to the front door, the base on brass bun feet with hand written note pasted to the underside, the 7 in. sq. dial signed Francis Raynsford at Charing Cross London on the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with unsual blued steel hands, the finely matted centre with decorated calendar aperture and ringed winding holes, winged cherub spandrels, the twin fusee movement with five ringed pillars, pull quarter repeat on three bells with hour strike on a further bell, re-built verge escapement, the backplate profusely engraved with scrolling foliage and flower heads within border engraving and signed in the centre Francis Raynsford at Charing Cross London , the movement secured to the case by means of latches to the rear of the dial; the backplate illustrated on page 97 13¼ ins. 34 cm. high 13¼ ins. 34 cm. high
