A WHITE JADE TABLE SCREEN QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795) The upright rectangular panel is finely carved in high relief on one side with two scholars and their attendant ascending a steep path through a mountainous landscape with pine, wutong and prunus, beneath a pavilion nestled in the hanging cliffs below the clouds. The reverse depicts the scholars at the end of their journey, seated in an open pavilion between pine, prunus and bamboo, beside steep mountain peaks shrouded by swirling clouds and a waterfall in the distance, the semi-translucent stone has some opaque inclusions well incorporated into the design. 7 3/4 in. (19.7 cm.) high, wood stand
