Beschreibung:

A Victorian silver gilt officer's campaign set | Lot 203 | 17 A Victorian silver gilt officer's campaign set , a beaker, a small goblet, a double condiment sifter, all profusely chased with leafy scrolls and flower heads, by Charles Wallis London 1854, a double-ended medicine spoon en suite, by Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater, London 1854, a folding spoon and a folding fork, with bone handles, the fork with combined corkscrew, by William Gallimore & Sons, Sheffield 1897, a folding knife with steel blade and bone handle, stamped Asprey, Bond St., the beaker, goblet and condiment set with applied circular cartouche monogrammed with coronet, the remaining items engraved with monogram with coronet above, in fitted leather case The monogram and coronet are most probably Continental. The coronet most closely resembles the Princely hat of the Austrian Empire, or Prince of Lichtenstein. Taking into consideration the monogram, one likely candidate is Prince Alfred Roman of Lichtenstein (1875-1930). He was the son of Prince Alfred of Liechtenstein and married Princess Theresa Maria of Oettingen-Wallenstein in 1912. His dates are a little later than some of the pieces, but he may well have had his monogram applied later. A Victorian silver gilt officer's campaign set
