A Victorian silver-gilt and gilt-metal ladies travelling dressing table service maker's mark of William Frederick Williams and Company, London, 1876, 1877 and 1879 The interior fitted with eight various hobnail cut-glass oval boxes and four oblong bottles, with silver-gilt covers all in central gilt-metal mounted carousel, two similar oblong comb boxes and two inkpots, each applied with split pearl and coral initials DS, the interior mirrored and with two extending gilt-metal candlesticks, with two small drawers and one long jewellery drawer, the articulated drop front fitted with twenty-six various implements and a silver-gilt medicine spoon, one pair of scissors a replacement, the articulated hinged lid with central dressing mirror revealing an ivory handmirror, a miniature mirror, a shoe horn, and a pair of glove stretchers, one miniature mirror lacking, with document wallet behind, with clock, pin cushion, two oblong detachable boxes and two photograph frames each with concealed compartment behind, with strapwork, anthemion and foliage gilt-metal mounts, all in gilt-brass bound wood case, marked on bottle and box covers and medicine spoon the case 17¾in.
