A Victorian macassar ebony and brass-lined eight-day marine chronometer William Weichert, No. 2116. Circa 1880 The silvered dial signed William Weichert, 112 Bute Docks, Cardiff. No. 2116 , Roman hour chapters, seconds at VI further engraved Golden Cross and Crown from his Majesty the Emperor of Austria , up/down sector at XII calibrated 0-8, gold hour and minute hands, the glazed bezel with silvered sight ring further engraved Maker to H.R.H. The Emperor of Austria , the movement with well spotted plates, main frame assembly carrying the reversed fusee, barrel and centre wheel, sub assembly carrying the remainder of the train and escapement with Earnshaw-type spring detent with jewelled locking stone, blued helical spring and cut bimetallic balance with Poole's auxilliary, brass bowl and gimbal, the three-tier box with brass quarter edging and stringing, mother-of-pearl plaque to the front inscribed Wm. Weichert No. 2116 , recessed drop handles to the sides, top lid replaced 120mm. dial diameter; 205mm. square box
