Circa 1876 BOX: mahogany with brass and ebony stringing, brass drop handles to the plain sides, bone roundel to the front numbered 2831 and above bone plaque signed J.B.MAYO , brass bowl and gimbal, flat glass to brass bezel; case key--215 mm. square DIAL: silvered and engraved Roman dial with eight day up/down ring at XII and seconds ring at VI, engraved CENTENNIAL PREMIUM, 1876, and signed J.B.MAYO & CO./Chicago No.2831, AUXILIARY/H/COMPENSATION , gold main hands, blued steel subsidiary hands--125 mm. diameter MOVEMENT: two-tier plates with escapement positioned on a sub-assembly, single chain fusee with maintaining power, signed on the top plate THOMAS MERCER, 161.Goswell Road LONDON.
