A very rare Worcester teapot and cover, circa 1785 Of square section with fluted corners, the cover applied with an elaborate flower finial, painted in bright blue on both sides with the 'Peony Creeper' pattern (I.D.30) of flowering rocks and a trailing prunus, within cell borders, 14cm high (2) Fußnoten Provenance Godden Reference Collection Zorensky Collection, Bonhams sale, 16 March 2004, lot 299 Illustrated by Simon Spero and John Sandon, The Zorensky Collection (1996), fig.631, and by Branyan, French and Sandon, Worcester Blue and White Porcelain (1981), I.D.30. This is the only known example of this rare type, and close examination is necessary in order to identify this as hand painted rather than printed. The painting is possibly copied directly from a 'Chinese soft paste' original and this piece may have been made as a matching or replacement.
