A VERY RARE IMPERIAL YELLOW EMBROIDERED 'TWELVE-SYMBOL DRAGON' ROBE QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795) Finely couched in gold and silver thread with nine contorted five-clawed dragons clutching 'flaming pearls', further embroidered in silk threads in shades of blue, green, grey, red and ochre with the twelve imperial symbols amid stylised clouds interspersed with bats, superimposed on a pattern of dense wan emblems and ruyi flower-heads, all reserved on a rich, yellow ground above the terrestrial diagram with lishi stripe at the hem, with a dark blue-ground border at the collar and cuffs, the interior lined in blue silk, the vent to the front and back have been stiched, tucks have been placed to shorten the sleeves (minor losses and repair) 59 1/2 in. (152 cm.) long
