A VERY RARE BLUE AND SANCAI-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURE OF A FERGHANA HORSE TANG DYNASTY (618-907) Standing foursquare with head turned slightly to the left and mouth open, the forelock, hogged mane, a stripe that centers the rump and the hogged tail covered in a deep rich blue that falls in streaks onto the ivory-colored straw glaze, the blue also predominantly used in combination with amber and green on the splash-glazed saddle blanket combed allover in imitation of fur, the blue and green halter, chest strap and crupper decorated with florets and hung with foliate medallions also liberally splashed in blue that drains most heavily onto the rear haunches and legs 21½ in. (54.6 cm.) long
