A VERY FINE ITALIAN MIQUELET-LOCK SPORTING GUN with swamped octagonal sighted barrel stamped 'Lazarino Cominazzo' at the breech, the back-sight with chiselled foliate finial, engraved tang, flat lock chiselled in high relief with a lion at the rear and with a monster at the front, chiselled cock and steel each with pierced and chiselled finial, the bridle to the mainspring and steel-spring each finely pierced and chiselled with scrolling foliage and berries, later moulded figured walnut full stock carved in relief with a scroll on the fore-end, and a monster's head behind the grip and in front of the trigger-guard and inset with pierced and chiselled steel panels en suite with the lock (one missing, one incomplete), rounded butt-plate with long pierced and chiselled tang, elaborately pierced trigger-guard chiselled in high relief and terminating in a bird at the rear, pierced trigger, ramrod tail-pipe chiselled in the form of an open-mouthed monster, iron fore-end cap, and original wooden ramrod with chiselled tip, circa 1660-80, probably Neopolitan 31½in. barrel [E. 241, S.32
