A SWISS ENAMELLED GOLD MUSICAL SNUFF-BOX by Henri Neisser, marked, Geneva, circa 1800, struck with 18ct. gold mark Rectangular box with rounded corners, of curved section with concave double-opening cover, both lids, four sides and base decorated with panels of engine-turning forming a pattern of small peaked lozenges, the long lid embellished with an oval reserve containing a ewer filled with flowers stamped in parcel-enamelled polished gold on a sablé ground, the matted gold borders on cover and base stamped with parcel-enamelled trailing foliage, and with blue-enamelled scalloped borders on the wall sides, the rounded corners of the sides stamped with foliage parcel-enamelled in dark blue on matted gold rectangles, the inside of the base under the short cover fitted with a musical movement released by a lever on the short end flanked by blue enamelled letters 'M' and 'S', the longer lid with slightly raised thumbpiece; with later key 2.15/16 in.
