Beschreibung:

A stainless steel Cartier Santos 100 wristwatch Circa 2005 Case: stainless steel with gem-set crown, 38 mm diameter (including lugs 51 mm) Bracelet: original Cartier leather strap with original Cartier stainless steel double deployant clasp Dial: white with sapphire glass Case number: 2656 / 763705 SX Movement number: 42 PL 12 Caliber: ETA 2892 A2, automatic Accessoires: presentation box, certificate and user guide Gross weight approx. 128.9 g Movement not tested Note: In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, people were strapping pocket watches to their wrists or fitting old movements into modified cases with straps, but the Santos was, from idea to initial execution, exclusively a wristwatch. Upon request, Louis Cartier made a special watch for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904. As an inventor and aviator, Alberto needed a timekeeper he could check without taking his hands off the controls of his early aircraft. Alberto's celebrity status made the men's wristwatch a fashion icon overnight, and wrote the Cartier Santos into the history books. Most recently, there was the Santos 100 collection. Launched in 2004 to commemorate the centennial anniversary of Louis Cartier making a wristwatch for his pioneering friend.
