A RARE SMALL CARVED BLACK LACQUER 'BIRD' DISH YUAN DYNASTY (1279-1368) The circular dish is carved to the front with a single bird with outspread wings amidst pomegranate blossoms and leaves. The reverse side is decorated with lotus petals and the black base is inscribed with two characters Dong yuan painted in red. 5 1/2 in. (14 cm.) diam.
