A RARE MICACEOUS WHITE MARBLE FIGURE OF THE LUOHAN FANAPOSI, ARHAT VANAVASIN JIN DYNASTY (1115-1234) The figure is modelled seated with his right leg tucked under his body, the left leg pendent resting on the rockwork base, his two hands placed together above a cylindrical arm support sculpted from the rocks on one side, the figure with his head turned and acutely raised in contemplation of the seated Buddha set within a cloud plume, carved in high relief on the rocks, forming a mandorla-like backdrop, the right central section of the rocks engraved with a fifteen character inscription, the edge of the rocks outlined with a simple ridge that runs around the entire rock, the base cut with stylised geometric angles and drilled with holes at the front and sides. 33 in.
