A RARE LARGE WUCAI FISH JAR JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566) Stoutly potted and painted around the sides with a continuous scene of eight golden carp depicted in different positions as they swim amidst floating aquatic plants above a band of lotus plants and further water weeds, all in yellow, green, iron red and underglaze blue, the yellow fish detailed in iron red to give them a rich golden color, all between a band of overlapping petal tips in underglaze blue below and a band of petal lappets alternately in iron red, yellow and underglaze blue above; with later cloisonné enamel mounts at the mouth rim and around the base 13½ in. (34.2 cm.) high
