A RARE BLUE AND SANCAI -GLAZED ‘DOUBLE-HEADED EAGLE’ POTTERY TRIPOD TRAY TANG DYNASTY (618-907) The shallow circular dish is potted resting on three animal feet. The pattern at the centre was impressed with a medallion enclosing a double-headed eagle in flight between two clouds with six flared cockscomb flowers radiating outward from the centre. All are in blue, amber and green against a straw-glaze which continues over the rim with raised edges and extends to the supporting legs underneath. 14 ¼ in.
