Beschreibung:

A Rare and Attractive Red Spinel and Diamond Ring The cushion-shaped red spinel weighing 20.50 carats with baguette-cut diamond crossover shoulders to the ribbed hoop Red spinels are found in various shades and intensities, the best of which rival the colour of the finest rubies often referred to as "Pigeon-blood" red. The finest spinels are found in the Mogok Stone Tract in Upper Burma which partly explains why they can be confused with rubies from the same region. In fact, the "Black Prince Ruby" which is the central stone in the British Imperial State Crown, is a red spinel. They can be found in royal jewels through the ages and, in the 14th century, were believed to bring peace and well-being to the owner. This particular stone has a combination of the most prized colour with excellent clarity in a large size, making it very rare and is one of the finest examples that has ever been offered at auction (2)
