A RARE ALTERED GREY-GREEN JADE DRAGON-FORM PLAQUE EASTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, PRE-IMPERIAL QIN, XI'AN, SHAANXI PROVINCE, 7TH-6TH CENTURY BC The flat plaque in the shape of a highly stylized, tightly arched dragon with a thin cut-out line indicating the mouth below a notched upper edge, one side finely incised with interlocking angular scrolls and a narrow striated band separating the head and the body, with parallel lines following the shape of the sharply forward-curved tail, pierced with a small biconical hole, the grey-green stone now almost completely opaque and of mottled buff color 3 3/16 in. (8.1 cm.) long
