A QUEEN ANNE YELLOW-DECORATED CARVED PINE ROYAL COAT-OF-ARMS CIRCA 1710 The Royal Coat-of-Arms of Queen Anne enclosed by the Garter strap inscribed with the Royal motto 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE', with a further ribbon below inscribed with Queen Anne's motto 'SEMPER EADEM', with regally crowned lion and regally gorged Unicorn supporters surrounded by carved acanthus leaves, the unicorn with a metal chain attached to its coronet, the Garter strap surmounted by a hollow armoured head and shoulders on which rests a Royal crown radiating palms on which a lion guardant stands astride, previously gilt with traces of original gilding, probably previously fitted in an overdoor panel, the armorial now mounted on crimson silk velvet, in a rectangular ebonised and parcel-gilt later frame 35 in. (89 cm.) high; 51 in. (130 cm.) wide
