A QUEEN ANNE FILIGREE PAPERWORK ROYAL COAT-OF-ARMS 1707-1714 Worked in elaborate polychrome paper, cones and metallic threads depicting the royal coat-of-arms of Great Britain surrounded by geometric pinwheel motifs, dated 17(?), enclosed in a crimson damask-lined glazed frame (damages) - 21½in. X 18½in. (54.5cm. X 47cm.) As the arms bear the quartering for Scotland, they can be dated to after 1707 when the Union with Scotland took place. A closely related picture also with the royal coat-of-arms as borne by Queen Anne is in the Victoria and Albert Museum and illustrated in Clare Graham, 'Precious Paperwork', Traditional Interior Decoration , October/November 1986, p. 147.
