Printed from an Old Ms. Never Before Published, the Original Spelling and Language Being Retained, with Editorial Notes and Patterns of Flies, and Samples of the Materials for Making Each Fly Author: Aldam, W.H. Place: London Publisher: John B. Day Date: 1876 Description: xiii, [3], 91, [1] pp. With 2 mounted chromolithograph plates from watercolors by James Poole; 22 sunken mounts containing samples of fly-making materials and two specimen flies on 11 pages. 10¾x8¼, original pictorial green cloth stamped in gilt and black, all edges gilt. First Edition. Marvelous work containing actual samples of feathers, fishing line, thread, miniature hooks, etc., used in the creation of hand-tied flies. This copy with bookplate of Alfred Harmsworth. Westwood & Satchell p.3. Lot Amendments Condition: Corners showing, light wear to spine ends, rubbing to joints; mild to moderate foxing throughout (as usual); one sample from oval 1 lacking, but others appear to be all present; a fragile work, overall very good.
