Straight 11 inch spear point blade with notched spine and full-length etched decoration, one side with scrollwork, Royal Crown over VR monogram within the garter, Royal/Highland/42/The/Black Watch, the regimental crest and motto, a vacant escutcheon framed by thistles and at the hilt Henry/Wilkinson/Pall Mall/London; the reverse with thirteen battle honors-Egypt through Lucknow. Ebonized basketweave hilt, the gilt brass ferrule molded with thistles, the pommel with 'cairn gorm' in gilt mount. Black leather scabbard, the gilt mounts molded with thistles, the uppermost with St. Andrew and the saltire and the regimental numeral; complete with original knife and fork en suite; black leather suspension strap, the back side with bullion lace panel. Condition: Excellent. Blade showing some very minor spotting and light scratches. Mounts retain much of the gilt finish. Leather with minor surface scuffs. See Illustration
