PETERSBURG, 1874 Shaped as an izba on a square base engraved to simulate grass, mounted with a peasant woman holding a yoke and flanked by water buckets enclosing fitted wells, the border and feet cast and chased to simulate logs, with integral well for a cigar, centering the humidor chased and engraved to simulate an izba , with stylized windows and doorway, the hinged cover revealing a fitted lift-out tray with holes to hold cigars, the frieze champlevé enameled with the Russian inscription 'This house is prosperous', marked throughout 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) wide 99.6 oz. (2823.9 gr.)
